This book collects some of the portraits I have taken of the Eastern Grey kangaroos located on Red Hill, in the heart of Canberra, overlooking Parliament House and 320,000 residents.
Known as the 'bush capital' Canberra is also home to thousands of kangaroos, often too numerous and ubiquitous to be noticed by most locals, except at night when they can be a major hazard as they hop along the suburban streets and graze in our gardens.
I started photographing these 'roos for friends overseas and quickly became very attached to these friendly marsupials. I was struck by the curiosity of the younger ones in particular and soon started to recognise individuals both for their appearance and for their personalities.
