UPDATE TUESDAY 22nd: note the discount word has changed to "BIGTENAUD" and can be used once. It will give you $10 OFF the total order.

These fantastic photobooks are top-quality productions and have allowed me to design the Fathers and Sons and the Mothers and Daughters as both single volumes and as a whopping combined volume. Each portrait has it's own page so there are 240 pages in the combined volume. This is my favourite. I like to see all the portraits together.
All books are available as a selection of three finishes for you to choose from, and all curently at the 8x10" size. Prices start at $49.95.
To order your books simply follow the book-links to BLURB BOOKS. You can view every page of every book right here right now.
Printing and delivery takes around 3 weeks so these could be the perfect Christmas presents. You can have the books sent to yourself or directly to someone else. It is so convenient.

Portrait Series

The Portrait Series books are the culmination of two major projects I ran from 2008 to 2011.

I wanted to challenge my self and my clients to think about photographic portraiture differently to how it has been conceived traditionally. I wanted to show that portrait photography could be more pictorial and visually exciting and something we would be proud to hang on our walls. I wanted to produce images we could all be comfortable with, especially where most of us dread the process and are rarely happy with how we appear in photographs. I wanted to explore a style of photography that made everyone look good because it is not about glamour and retouching, but about who we are and why we are loved and who we love. I wanted to tell a story about relationships and being with someone who matters to us and influences us most, and about how values and ideas are passed through the generations. I wanted to capture portraits that express more than simply what we look like today. I wanted to capture iconic or archetypal moments that represent how we want to be remembered and communicate ideas to both the participants and to all viewers. I wanted to be able to look at the collection of portraits and learn something new. I also wanted to show how portraiture could be truly enjoyable.

Playing in the Sand is a collection of photographs I shot in two days at the sand dunes in Vietnam, located at Mui Ne and Bao Trang near Phan Thiet (about 4 hours drive east of Ho Chi Minh City).

The book includes the 'formal' landscape photographs of the sand dunes - iconic subject matter for photographers - as well as shots of the people and activties around me to provide some context to the location.

I will never forget the feel of my feet in the shifting sands nor the constant sand-blasting on my legs. Changing lenses under these conditions was quite a challenge!

Two Gardens: Two Passions collects some of the images I have captured in my own garden and Gordon Bootes' garden, my next-door neighbour. This book is many things, including a tribute to Gordon, who died in 2010, and whose passion was flowers ...as you will see. My own passion is maples and the colours of Autumn. So between the two gardens there is constant colour and interest.

I have organised the photographs as a sort of 'colour-journey' rather than as a botanical exposition. My hope is you can enjoy the colours as well as the plant specimens. I think of this volume as a meditation on nature and colours.

Please let me know what you think.

This book collects some of the portraits I have taken of the Eastern Grey kangaroos located on Red Hill, in the heart of Canberra, overlooking Parliament House and 320,000 residents. Known as the 'bush capital' Canberra is also home to thousands of kangaroos, often too numerous and ubiquitous to be noticed by most locals, except at night when they can be a major hazard as they hop along the suburban streets and graze in our gardens.

I started photographing these 'roos for friends overseas and quickly became very attached to these friendly marsupials. I was struck by the curiosity of the younger ones in particular and soon started to recognise individuals both for their appearance and for their personalities.
